Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has filed paperwork setting up a Presidential campaign exploratory committee:
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has apparently taken the first step toward a presidential run, filing with the New York Department of State late last week to form a presidential exploratory committee .

Last night at a fundraiser for Republican John Faso (apparently there’s a guy running against Eliot Spitzer for governor; who knew?), a, let’s be charitable here, crazy old woman climbed on the stage and began to read a speech about 9/11. Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was on hand to defuse the situation. The News‘ Ben Smith notes that “whatever else you think of Rudy Giuliani, he’s really a master when it comes to the lunatics, who oddly seem to bring out his public empathy like nothing else.”
Here’s a collection of Rudy’s Greatest Empathetic Hits from a few years back. Our personal favorite was a response to someone who called into the mayor’s radio show to complain about the city’s ban on ferrets (remember when that was the big crisis?):
There is something deranged about you … this excessive concern with little weasels is a sickness … you should go consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist with this excessive concern, how you are devoting your life to weasels. You need somebody to help you. There are people in this city and in this world that need a lot of help. Something has gone wrong with you.
There’s a whole page of them; we’re sure you’ll find one you like just as much.

The hits just keep coming for the Pirro campaign: Today’s Post reports that she was instrumental in steering “a no-bid contract to Bernard Kerik and Rudy Giuliani’s security firm, rebuffing protests about the arrangement.” Pirro’s spokesman rationalizes the sweetheart deal: “In order to guarantee that A & P met her high standards, she wanted to use a best-in-class firm to monitor A & P’s compliance with the law.” We’re inclined to accept that account: when it comes to monitoring, Kerik is clearly Neaner’s go-to guy. Elsewhere, Ben Smith notes the following quote Pirro delivered at a recent fundraiser: “I will not be bowed, I will not bend over…”, which, if nothing else, goes a long way toward explaining why Al would want to fuck that other broad.

John Hawkins over at Right Wing News has put together a piece titled “The Conservative Case Against Rudy Giuliani“. It’s an interesting read.
I don’t agree that staving off the downfall of Western civilization depends on overturning Roe v. Wade, so I’ll skip over the stuff about abortion. If that is your single issue, more power […]

I like Kate O’Beirne. She’s always seemed bright and articulate on cable news — a calm voice of the Buckleyite conservatism of our past — and she was nothing but classy when I met her in person at an NR function last year. But the column she has penned on the presidential chances of Rudy Giuliani […]

Quite possibly according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
Ronald Reagan was the last candidate to make New York see red. Recent polls suggest Rudy Giuliani may be the next.

Why are people all giddy about Giuliani? He is not going to make a successful run. He will never make it through a primary.
No doubt he is an American hero because of 9/11, but with the Dems, that just links him to Bush, and for right-wingers, they can’t stomach someone who is pro-choice and for […]

As I’ve been out of the loop for the past few days, I’ve missed the opportunity to comment on a few news items that lend support to my thesis that George Allen and Rudy Giuliani will be the last men standing in the contest for the GOP nomination in 2008.Â
I articulated my recent epiphany here, where […]

I finally received my copy of the latest issue of National Review in the mail today- the one with the infamous Rudy/Marilyn Monroe photo on the cover.

Marist College Poll, July 11-14, 2006:
Hillary Clinton outdistances the Democratic primary field among New York Democrats for president in 2008. New York voters divide over whether they would like to see her enter the presidential […]

More from the Hotline. It appears that an unofficial blog for Rudy Giuliani called out the Hotline for its allegedly pro-McCain tilt. The blog, however, featured Google ads for McCain. This one is pretty funny. You should check it out.
